Clear Lines and Correct Layouts
Parking lot striping organizes a lot: stalls, drive lanes, arrows, crosswalks, fire lanes and loading zones. Faded lines make a lot harder to use and can leave accessible spaces out of compliance. In Antioch's strong sun, paint fades faster than in cooler places, and HomeGuide says a well-done striping job usually lasts 2 to 5 years before it needs a fresh coat. We restripe existing layouts, design new ones after paving or sealcoat, and fix accessible spaces as part of the job.
Restripe or redesign
Restriping follows the existing lines. A redesign changes the layout, for example to add stalls, improve traffic flow or bring accessible parking up to current standards. HomeGuide says a new layout typically costs 20 to 50 percent more than restriping, because the lot has to be measured and laid out from scratch and old lines have to be covered or removed.
Accessible parking
The U.S. Department of Justice states that a business or government that restripes a lot must provide accessible spaces under the 2010 ADA Standards. The minimums are set per lot: 1 accessible space for up to 25 spaces, 2 for 26 to 50, 3 for 51 to 75, 4 for 76 to 100 and 5 for 101 to 150. At least one of every six accessible spaces must be van accessible. Car spaces are at least 96 inches wide with a 60-inch access aisle; van spaces are 132 inches with a 60-inch aisle or 96 inches with a 96-inch aisle. Signs are mounted with the bottom at least 60 inches above the ground, and spaces and aisles can slope no more than 1:48.
Markings we apply
Stall lines, accessible symbols and aisles, directional arrows, stop bars, crosswalks, fire lanes, loading zones, stenciled numbers and words, and painted curbs. We use paint suited to asphalt and lay lines out by measurement, not by eye.
Timing with sealcoat
Sealcoat covers the old lines, so lots that are being sealed are restriped right after. Doing both on the same visit means one closure. On a freshly paved lot, we wait for the asphalt to set before applying paint.
Working around your hours
Striping goes quickly: HomeGuide says a restripe can take from about 30 minutes to a few hours depending on lot size. We schedule early mornings, evenings or weekends so customers and tenants are not disrupted.

Parking Lot Striping Questions
How often should a parking lot be restriped?
HomeGuide says 2 to 5 years for a well-done job. Lots in full sun and with heavy traffic fade faster, and any time the lot is sealcoated it needs restriping.
How many accessible spaces does my lot need?
It depends on total spaces in the lot: 1 for up to 25, 2 for 26 to 50, 3 for 51 to 75 and 4 for 76 to 100, with at least one van-accessible space. Larger lots have higher counts.
Does restriping require ADA updates?
Yes. The Department of Justice says a lot that is restriped must provide accessible spaces under the 2010 ADA Standards.
Can you stripe at night or on weekends?
Yes. Most lots are striped in off-hours to keep the business open.
